Sylvia graduated from the National University of Singapore with a B.Sc. in Chemistry in 2021, where she developed a strong interest in polymer chemistry and organic functional materials. Seeking to broaden her exposure beyond academia, she gained valuable industry experience with leading organizations, including Micron Technology and the DSO National Laboratories. During her stint in the industry, she worked under the guidance of senior scientists on the development of smart polymeric materials and surface functionalisation of nanocomposites for real-world applications, strengthening her interest in translating materials research into practical technologies. Motivated to deepen her expertise in polymer science and materials chemistry, as well as her growing passion for research and innovation, Sylvia's passion led her to start the PhD program in August 2026 under the supervision of Prof. Somin Park.
